Lightning Rod Tubing

Lightning rod tubing is a little somethin’, somethin’ that we have been working on for a while. This isn’t some tubing we bought and just slapped a name on. We had it computer engineered. Then after rigorous tests we finally gave it the go ahead and this is what we proudly offer you. It's a great way to keep your bike light whilst retaining the strenght you need. It's thicker where you are more likely to dent it and thinner where you're not.

•Offset butted and butted end to end and then bulge butted at the head tube to slightly ovalize the tube, this dramatically increases the strength of the head tube/down tube junction. The bulge butt gives more welding area on the head tube and also provides more stiffness.

•The tube is 1.8mm where the gusset normally would be on the bottom and 1.3mm on the top near the head tube, it then butts down to 1.2mm thick on the bottom to prevent denting and .7mm thick on the top where the tube doesn’t normally get hit to reduce weight. The manipulation of the tube provides better dent resistance, a 20% reduction in weight compared to a normally butted tube, and is stronger.
